Pretzels

The girls and I made almond bark pretzels last year at Christmas time. We decided to make them again this year. It is always fun having the girls help in the kitchen.

Snow Storm

So last Saturday my husband decided it was necessary to travel with snowy roads. We went 50 miles per hour in a 65 mile an hour zone. If it would have been up to me we would have turned around and gone home. We passed about a dozen cars in the ditch. I have gotten very spoiled not having to drive in the winter to work. I was so mad that my husband felt it was necessary to travel in weather like that. I sat the whole trip in the back of the van with the girls!

So where is it that we just had to go? A fish store about 2.5 hours from our house. Once we finally made it to this store I will say it was a very nice clean store. The fish tanks were well put together. However there wasn't much there. The store was smaller than my closet.

Here is a picture of one of the things we got to add to our fish tank. Its called a Sunburst! It is pretty but it sure could have waited until it was nicer weather.

The Flood

So for a few days now every time I go into the bathroom I tell myself I need to clean it. I guess I was putting it off hoping the cleaning lady would come back from vacation early and clean it for us. Well today I had no choice in the matter. I had finally sat down to take a few minutes to relax and Rose came running from the bathroom "Its flooding, hurry". So of course knowing she had been in the bathroom for 15 minutes I knew I had to act fast. Wow, it was flooded. There was water all over the floor and it was running into the hall way. I took one step into the hallway and my feet were soaked. So a few bath towels later the the water was cleaned up. Then of course I was motivated to clean the rest of the bathroom. I even dusted the living room and swept the dining room floor I had so much motivation. That cleaning lady might just be able to take an extra day off since I cleaned the house today!
Ok we really don't have a cleaning lady and that's not really a picture of my bathroom toilet. It just looks better than the one we got!

Memories

Well this weekend I spent part of my time being snowed in. We got plenty of snow this weekend and I am really hoping we don't get much more.

One of the things I tried working on while I was stuck at home was cleaning my basement. The basement needs some TLC. Its partly finished but the last owners didn't seem to take care of it. We have been just using it for storage. Or more like I have been. Most of the totes say DAYCARE THINGS on them. They are full of different project ideas, worksheets and coloring books. My goal was to pick one tote and go through it and then pick another tote and do the same. Well, the first tote I picked brought back too many memories I never got beyond that one tote. It was a smaller blue tote. It was filled with High School memories. I had everything in there from sweet 16 birthday cards, my drivers Ed. book to letters from friends asking me why I was mad or telling me they were not mad. For a moment I was very sad those times had to end. I recall one time going with a few of my friends and we stoped at a gas station and bought tons of comfort food. I remember there was ice cream. I think we also went to a fast food place and got french fries. I remember driving around and pigging out. I am sure we talked about boys and who knows what else. It made me feel really old looking at all the things in the tote.

There is one thing I have learned over the years and I was reminded by it when I went through that tote. Those friendships I made in High School can never be replaced. I might make new friends as time goes on but those friendships from High School are the ones I miss most. No friendship can ever compare to those.

So to my Peas in the Pod. I miss our pigging out car rides! I found a safe place for my blue tote and who knows maybe there will be a day that I am drawn back to it to be reminded about what life was like when I was young and the wonderful friendships I made in High School.

So this will sound a bit strange after reading my last entry about chaos. Why not add alittle more chaos to the house. Right? We are officially a Licensed Foster Care home for our county! I just spoke to the Licensor and she has sent our name out to the Social Workers to let them know we are licensed, where we live and that I do daycare. She has also given our information to the Crisis Nursery and Respite Care. So in time we could have a child staying with us.

Alittle Chaos is ok

God gives us chaos but we need to believe that he will get us through the day and give us a better day tomorrow.

A friend called me today to tell me that a friend of hers passed away from a blood clot. It has brought tears to my eyes as I think about the children this women has left behind. They are very young (8, 5, 2 and 13 days old). I pray God watches over them. So hung your little ones tonight and your big kids too. Be thankful even if there is chaos in your life that you are here to give those hugs.

Thanks Grandpa G!

So yesterday in the mail the big girls got Christmas Cards from their Grandpa G. He lives in another state so he isn't able to see the girls on Christmas. This is their biological mom's dad. So anyways, hubby felt it was important to let them use what they got right away. They each got a $50 gift card to Wal-Mart. So I bet you can guess where we went after supper. It was interesting explaining to a 4 and 6 year old how much $50 could buy. We first let them pick out what they wanted most. Rose wanted most was a dress with no shirt under it (she hates jumpers) and tights. The Dancer wanted a Keyboard. So after that they still of course had lots of money left so to the toys we went! They did really well picking out what they wanted. Rose ended up having $10 left on her card when we left the store. Here are some pictures I took.

Its Officailly Christmas in the Wynn House!

This weekend we enjoyed putting up our Christmas Tree! The girls had fun putting the ornaments on. We also decided to start a new tradition. Each year when we put up our tree we'll order out pizza! We also visited Santa at the Mall today. I wanted to get a picture but it would have cost me $5.oo to take one with my camera. Yes, that's right. My camera, My children. So we said we'd buy one from the photo lady (just happen to be the lady who took our wedding pics). It ended up being $13.86 for a picture. Then after we paid we found out we have to go back to the Mall next weekend to get it! Talk about crazy. Here are some pictures of our weekend.

Of course everything goes in the mouth.

those things that come in the mail!

So someone just emailed me for my address. Wanted to make sure they had the correct one. Yes, we moved in June!! Thank goodness! However the reason she needed it is just not something I am ready to think about. She wants to send me one of those things you put in an envelope. Sometimes they have a picture in them sometimes just a season's greetings sticker on the envelope. I am so not ready to even say the word. I have not even thought about sending any out this year. Is it even that time already? Darling Rose said the other day "Its not Christmas time, there is no snow on the ground, you Silly". Am I a bad person if I don't send them out? Will I not get any next year if I skip this year? Hmm, Maybe I can talk hubby into doing them this year. Yeah right.

I will say though we already got one in the mail. It was Monday I think. Guess who it was from. The car dealership we bought our 1st van from. Now really, is that necessary? We won't buy from them again even if we get a Season's Greetings from them!

Here is a picture of Rose in her very 1st pair of glasses! She got them on Wednesday afternoon and so far she is doing really well with them. However they are already bent so we'll take her this afternoon to get them straightened! The first night when it was bedtime she put the glasses in the case and said to her glasses "Good night fella, time to go to sleep".

What's under your pillow?

Awhile back my hubby and I discovered that The Dancer keeps a picture of her and her birth mom under her pillow. I think Dancer is about 3 in the picture. Might even be from her 3rd b-day party. Anyways, we have allowed her to keep it there. She even wraps it in a small doll blanket for safe keeping. There was a time after that discovery that we noticed she had other things under her pillow. She had a rock, a few small toys. Mainly things that she does not need when its bedtime. So we asked her to move them. Still allowing the picture.

Lastnight hubby was tucking Dancer into bed and notice a big lump under her pillow. Again she had toys. This time she also had a picture of Auntie M. My hubby asked her why she had it. She told him it was under her pillow because she was praying for Auntie M. She needed her picture there to pray for Auntie M to get a baby in her tummy.

There are reasons why kids do things. Some might be goofy and some might be brilliant. I am very proud of Dancer. She is a good kid. Maybe all this time she was praying for the toys too!

The Dancer

Here is our Dancer at her program. They danced to Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. She did tap dancing last Spring and this year decided to switch to jazz dance. She likes it much better this year. Probably because in jazz dance you dance with alittle more attitude! She loves it too when we get to curl her hair for dance!

ONE YEAR!!!!!!!!

I wanted to post this yesterday but I was pretty busy and never got around to it. It was one year yesterday that we went and picked up the Dancer and Rose! They have been with us full time for ONE YEAR! So happy anniversary to us! We didn't make a big deal about it to the girls. Its a happy time for them but also a sad time since they have not seen their birth mom in a year. But inside my hubby and I are doing the happy dance! We love having them here ALL THE TIME!

Trips to the ER

Wow what a weekend. On Friday night the Dancer who was getting excited about her dance program on Saturday said her ear was hurting really bad. So into the ER daddy took her. Thankfully we took her because she had an ear infection.

Then on Sunday Baby Girl was not feeling like herself. She was very crabby. I had spoken to a nurse on Saturday about Baby Girl having a cough and runny nose. She said not to worry until there was a fever. So Sunday night about supper time she has a fever. I took her into the ER since the clinic was closed and sure enough she had her 1st ear infection.

Hopefully no more trips to the ER.
