~Healthy Foods~

So this might not really entertain anyone but I got this thing that is frustrating me. So here goes.

The other night we had what was supposed to be Turkey Rice Soup. However it didn't turn out as planned and we called it MUSH. It was not yummy looking at all. We were low on food and we had to at least try it. We then filled up on Tuna Sandwiches. There wasn't really other options as all our big dinner meat items were frozen. I also badly needed to get to the grocery store. So MUSH it was.

So yesterday I got paid for a month of daycare for one of my children in daycare! Oh was I happy. It ment a nice trip to the grocery store. However it was also depressing. Healthy foods cost more than fat foods. For example... shredded cheese is more expensive if you want low fat or fat free. If you buy the regular shredded cheese its cheaper. Bread is also more expensive if you buy Light Whole Wheat bread. Many other things as well can be more expensive. Then there are those doctors who complain our nation is over weight. No wonder it is. There are alot of us who need to shop on a budget. No matter what the size of your family. So why do healthy foods need to cost more?

I want my kids to live a long life. I want to set good examples for them. I know not everything we eat needs to light or fat free. But if I show them I can eat those things they will eat them also. I just want them to be healty. Jade and Abby have diabetics in their family. I don't want to have to take that path.

I guess I just wanted to complain a bit! I do that alot!

On another note though I found bread for Maddi! She visited the doctor again for her tummy issues. She had an x-ray of her tummy and it showed she needs badly to get more fiber in her diet and go potty more. So she is back on MirLAX. Oh its working too! She's going potty! Mommy has lots of messes to clean up. They don't put it on the bottle how to potty train a child with the RUNS! But we will manage. I always say every mess can be cleaned up. Some just take longer than others. So she needs high Fiber foods. She loves to eat bread. Her doctor said she needs foods with 3 grams of Fiber or more per serving. So finally found that Cub Foods has a Light Whole Wheat bread that is 4 grams of fiber! Yippie! I of course had to get her a loaf.

The best thing though about my shopping trip lastnight was Cub Foods had some great coupons. I saved $46. 91! I was thrilled with my savings. However I still spent $249.21. Yikes. But remember I feed a family of 6 daily and lots of daycare kids.

Now I shouldn't really tell you this part but I was bumbed with my husband lastnight. I buy a bunch of healthy foods at the store and then go threw the drive threw on my way home. Yeah, good old McDonalds. I haven't had my favorite Vanilla shake in so long. Trying to diet and all. So lastnight I was going to treat myself. Me for once! I get a medium. We are not that far from McDonalds so I only got about 2 sips on the way home. Once home we  Jade, Abby and I start putting away the groceries. After I was finished I go to grab my shake and the damn thing is empty! Gone. Not melted but gone. My husband thaught it was for him.

So much for my treat.

You saved almost $47.00 at Cub. That is great!!! When I shop for daycare groceries, my bill is sooo high. I need to start shopping with you and using YOUR coupons.
